Directions

1. Build Your Slideshow
2. Edit your Slideshow
  • Open your “Art Folder” in Google Drive and create a NEW Google Slideshow.

  • Title the slideshow “Art Portfolio”, then add YOUR NAME and the Year below it.

  • Get out ALL of the projects from your time in Art.

  • Build your Portfolio:

    • One artwork per slide

    • Take a GOOD photo of each artwork

    • For Each Artwork Add Text:

      • Your first and last name

      • Title of the artwork

      • Material that you used

    • On the last slide complete an artist statement for your body of work.

Image Check:

  • Do all images take up as much of the slide space as possible?

  • Are all the images cropped

  • Are all images square and un-warped?

  • Are all of your pictures "good" (no fingers, clear, nothing in the background, good lighting)?

  • Is your text easy to read?

  • Does the background on each slide enhance the image?

  • Do each of your photos have a boarder around them?

  • Is your spelling and grammar correct?

3. Complete an Artist Statement

Example:

In the beginning when I was 7 years old I never drew, it was hard for me to look at
the photo and draw it. I mostly give up at times when drawing gets to hard for me and when it really doesn’t look like what I wanted. I wasn’t happy about it so I tried learning about types of art on youtube or on the web. I tried doing all the tutorials but it ended badly. I just didn’t understand how, I was just so confused to learn. But when time passed I set a goal for myself that I will get better at drawing or other kinds of art that I will like or hate. Days later I learned how to draw but only cartoons and animals which are not realistic, only cartoonish. When I went to middle school, one of my electives was art. In class from first to second quarter I learned a lot of techniques from Ms. Pfister and I gathered all my learning into every piece of art I made and it was easy for me to do art now and draw some of the photos that I liked. It made me so happy that I came so far today but I am still learning. Even though I faced a lot of challenges, I gave all my effort and it paid off. Including you that you shouldn’t ever give up when you're facing challenges. You should just try and see, even though when you're making a mistake you can learn from it.

Write an artist statement that covers your body of work using google docs, google slides, or handwrite your statement with your best handwriting on lined piece of paper.

Questions to help you write your statement:

  • Are there any themes in your work?

  • What materials do you like to use best?

  • What is your art about?

  • Does anything about your life inspire what you make art about?

  • What topic were you trying to tackle?

  • What ideas did you explore?

  • Who inspired you? What artists do you look up to?

  • What do you see in your art?

  • What are you goals as an artist?
