DIRECTIONS
Step 1: Choose Media
Spend 5-10 minutes researching the following material options and tell Ms. Pfister which option you are choosing for your project.

Step 2: Meet the Experts

Click on the artist names below to see how the masters use their materials. Pick one that you like and look even more at their website.

Then in your sketchbook do a sketch of your favorite artwork from the artists you explored and write why you like their work.

Step 5: Envision and Sketch

Get our your Sketchbook.

Watch the video on the right.

Follow the directions to create your 3-4 sketches in your sketchbook.

Remember, a sketch is a rough draft and it’s primary goal is to help you problem solve your project and get your ideas out on paper!

Make sure you have completed steps 1-5 on your project planning sheet.

Find the video below and watch it. Follow the directions to get your project started.

Rewatch and pause as needed.

Get out your final materials and get started!
Block Printing Process
-
Draw your design onto a piece of paper that is the same size as your block.
-
Make sure your design:
-
is neat
-
is in 4-6B pencil lead
-
is an outline only
-
fills the space
-
is your original idea
-
-
Show your design to Ms. Pfister and get a block.
-
Flip your design onto your block and use a popcicle stick to rub it onto the surface.
Watercolor Process
Acrylic Paint Process

Draw your design onto a regular 8.5x11" paper
-
Make sure your design:
-
is neat
-
is an outline only
-
fills the space
-
is your original idea
-
-
When you are done, show Ms. Pfister and get your final watercolor paper.
-
Take your design & watercolor paper to the light tables by the art room door.
-
Turn it on, put your watercolor paper on top of your design and LIGHTLY trace it onto your paper. You shouldn't be able to see the lines after you paint them.
-
Tape your paper to a clip board & start painting!
-
Draw a detailed sketch of your idea, maybe color it with colored pencil
-
Get the Canvas you need for your project.

Layer your colors, don't just paint everything one solid color like you are coloring a coloring sheet.​
